In this eerie episode of The Paramurder Cast, Daniel, Dave, and CJ dive into the chilling world of Skinwalkers, exploring the terrifying legends rooted in Navajo folklore. Skinwalkers, known as “yee naaldlooshii” in Navajo, are humans who have gained the dark ability to transform into animals such as wolves, coyotes, or other creatures through dark rituals and magic. These shape-shifters are born from heinous acts like murder or betrayal of their tribe, leading them down a path of malevolent power. Their transformation into these creatures is described as agonizing, their bodies contorting painfully as they take on animal forms, granting them terrifying speed, strength, and heightened senses.
The Skinwalker myth warns of the dangers these beings pose. They are not merely shapeshifters but beings capable of extreme violence and cruelty. Skinwalkers are said to have the ability to read minds, control animals, and even mimic human voices and appearances—making them almost impossible to detect. Some stories claim they can kill with a single touch or steal the faces of their victims. These terrifying traits make them one of the most feared entities in Native American culture.
Throughout the episode, the hosts delve into the terrifying accounts of encounters with Skinwalkers, sharing stories passed down through generations. One of the most unsettling elements of the Skinwalker lore is their ability to manipulate and deceive their victims, often using their powers of illusion to lure unsuspecting people into their traps. Sacred herbs such as sage and cedar are said to offer some protection, but even these traditional methods seem barely enough against their supernatural strength and cunning.
The episode takes a darker turn as Daniel, Dave, and CJ explore real-life stories of Skinwalker encounters from across the internet. One story recounts a harrowing experience from a Redditor who, along with his father, had a face-to-face encounter with a Skinwalker in Arizona. Their headlights illuminated a grotesque, half-human, half-animal figure sitting on the road. Despite the terrifying encounter, the creature managed to escape into the night, leaving behind a deep sense of unease that still haunts the storyteller. This story is one of many that suggests that Skinwalkers are still lurking in the shadows, waiting for their next victim.
Another story shared in the episode involves a traveler who encountered a Skinwalker during a road trip through the Navajo reservation. As the man sat alone by his campfire under the stars, he heard a voice calling his name—a voice that sounded just like his friend’s, even though his friend was fast asleep nearby. The voice was coming from a creature on a nearby ridge, its glowing yellow eyes watching him intently. The storyteller managed to escape, but not before the Skinwalker left a physical mark on him, a reminder that these creatures are not just myths, but something far more real and dangerous.
One of the most disturbing stories comes from a Reddit user who describes a summer campfire turned nightmare. While walking through a wooded path, the storyteller and a cousin encountered a large dog-like creature with human hands and feet, staring at them with bright white eyes. They fled, but the experience left them deeply shaken, especially when the creature returned later that night, peering through a window, its grotesque face pressed against the glass. The hosts discuss how these kinds of sightings are all too common, particularly in areas steeped in Navajo tradition.
This episode of The Paramurder Cast not only delves into the history and mythology of Skinwalkers but also examines how these legends have become an enduring part of modern folklore. The hosts reflect on how Skinwalker stories serve as both a warning and a mystery, blurring the lines between myth and reality. Are Skinwalkers simply a cultural legend, or is there something far more sinister at play in the shadows of the Southwest?
Listeners are invited to share their own experiences or thoughts about Skinwalkers, as the episode concludes with a chilling reminder: in the dark, remote corners of the world, some legends refuse to die.

Episode 2 already! I have been working on this show for about a year, I know the podcast is still rough around the edges, but man we’re having some fun making the episodes, and Skinwalkers have been a topic we wanted to cover for forever. I’m glad to be posting it, and I hope everyone enjoyed it. Hopefully you have some cool Skinwalker stories, or some cool documentaries or movies to share below.
Thanks for stopping by and showing some support we love all the people who tune in!
October 30, 2024 at 12:20 pm #252Skinwalkers truthfully scare the hell out of me, the impersonation of your loved ones being the scariest. One of the biggest scares for me is those “ghosts caught on tape” videos where someone hears their voice or their family (who obviously isn’t home) calling from the basement.
Great episode!
